Where were you at when coaching began?
I had started four paintings and couldn't seem to move forward to complete any of them. There were personal issues in my life at the time and I found it impossible to focus. So, I would add some paint to each one and change my mind, sand it out and repaint again; I was stalled. While I found the process of painting to be a "great escape" since I couldn't move forward I was very frustrated.
What did you want from coaching?
I had taken a class with Shaqe in the past and hoped for some hand holding to solve my problems with the paintings.
How did you benefit?
At first, I balked. I expected Shaqe to critique my work by telling me what was wrong; we might discuss options and I could fix the paintings and complete them. But, I discovered that coaching was different from a class; Shaque encouraged me to find my own solutions. She started with suggesting that I select one painting for the coaching session. Then she asked what my intent was with the painting. A difficulty I have is putting my idea into words. She worked with me to develop that skill.
What were the results?
I have completed the painting I found most important to me. It still needs some minor tweaking but on the whole I am very satisfied .
What was your experience working with Shaqe?
Shaqe is easy to work with, is patient and was very professional with the on line coaching sessions. While we had fixed meeting times, she was available by email and phone.
